Waystone Staffing
What to do with Public Waystones
The Public Waystone system is intended to provide a reliable source of transportation around the server. Due to this, players lose access to removing Public Waystones and reusing them for a different purpose when converting them from Private to Public. Players are warned that this isn’t reversible outside of staff assistance before doing this.
Generally speaking, you should not remove a public waystone to return it to its “owner”. Public waystones have no effective owner as they serve to provide access to parts of the map to players. Even though a waystone may have lost usefulness to the person who placed it, nearby players may still depend on that waystone (or just expect it to be there) to give them access to the rest of the server from their house.
Waystones also serve as markers for major parts of the map for historical purposes. Removing them due to “inactivity” is similar to removing claims - if there’s considerable development nearby, it shouldn’t be removed. If there isn’t, then there’s an argument to be made.
If a public waystone has very little visits it may be justifiable to remove it and return the item to its owner, though any waystone that’s previously seen a considerable amount of traffic should remain on the server. Placement of the waystone does not entitle a player to recovering it once it’s made public, there must be a sufficient reason and the impact of its removal should be minimal if not nothing.
Moving Waystones
To move a Waystone, enter Waystone Bypass with /bypasswaystones. Once bypassing, open the Waystone's menu, then open the management menu. There will be a button for moving the waystone in there. Click it, then move to where the waystone needs to be. While looking at the top of the block you want to place the Waystone onto, click the "move" chat button to move the waystone to that location.
Turning Public Waystones Private
To convert a Public Waystone to a Private waystone, you must enter Waystone Bypass with /bypasswaystones. Once bypassing, open the Waystone's menu, then open it's management menu. There will be a button for converting it back to a Private waystone. Review the information on that button, then act accordingly.
Removing Waystones
To remove a Waystone, you must enter Waystone Bypass with /bypasswaystones. Once bypassing, open the Waystone's menu, then the management menu. There will be a button to remove it. Follow the instructions provided. The waystone may drop as an item, dispose if needed.
Commands
/givewaystone
This command will give you a Waystone
/waystonemenu
This command opens up the Waystone menu from anywhere in the world. This should only be used when staffing!
/bypasswaystones
This command will allow you to teleport to any Waystone in the Waystone menu, even if you don't have it unlocked. This also overrides many general waystone restrictions, as well as allowing you to manage and move waystones.
/bypassprivatewaystones
This command allows you to see all Waystones on the server, even Private waystones. This also bypasses various restrictions on waystone unlocking. Take care to not have this enabled while streaming or sharing your screen as you may unintentionally leak locations of other player's waystones.
