Claims and Grief Protection

If you're playing on Bedrock Edition, this feature may not work as expected.

SMPOnline Season 5 uses a fully custom claiming plugin called SMPClaims. This claim plugin requires use of the Resource Pack, so make sure you let your game download it from the server to play.

Getting Started

You can use the command /claims new to create a claim. The in-game prompts and information should be sufficient to help you understand the claiming system. It's designed to be as intuitive as possible with a visual resizing system.

You'll need Claim Blocks to claim any land! Use the /claimblocks command for more information.

You can use /claim resize to resize your claim at any time. Additionally, try out /showclaims to render nearby claim boundaries. You can run around with this on to help scout out an area for a build if you like, or simply to figure out if you've got neighbors.

If you're unsure who owns a claim nearby, use /claim info while standing inside of it to get some basic information about the claim.

Claim Tuners

SMPClaims protects from just about anything manipulating blocks, or anything else, inside of your claim by default. To adjust the protections in your claim, you can adjust the various places Claim Tuners exist. Check out /claim manage for more info.

If you encounter any gaps in the protection of SMPClaims, please make a ticket in the Discord reporting the issue. You'll receive a reward if you discover a new problem!

Stuck?

If you're stuck in a claim, use the /unstuck command. This will send you to the last safe spot you were in outside of a claim. If there's not a spot available, you should ask for help from staff via chat or in-game.

Troubleshooting & Tips

  • If you can't scroll while resizing claims, you can press the hotbar quick switch keys (usually the top number keys) to emulate scrolling and resize your claim. Closer values to 5 are smaller movements, 4 and 6 being movements of one block.
  • If scrolling is behaving unexpectedly, try to scroll slower or more deliberately. The server is attempting to guess how your mouse is scrolling, so fast movements can throw it off.
  • If you see huge weird black blobs, can't see the claim selection walls, or have floating feather disease...
    • Go back to the Multiplayer menu, select SMPOnline, and click "Edit Server"
    • Make sure Resource Packs are Enabled
    • Rejoin and try again
    • If it's still not working, make a ticket.
  • If you have another problem, ask other players on the server or Discord for help! If you still can't figure it out, feel free to make a ticket.
