Anti EXP/Mob Farming System

When an area of the world has too many mobs die within it in too quickly, or is fished in too much, the area will become "Overfarmed." Overfarmed areas have limitations placed on them to discourage players from endlessly, mindlessly grinding out hours of gameplay in monotonous tasks. We hope to encourage players to reach their goals in a more fun, gameplay-filled manner.

Areas that have grown excessive amounts of Sculk in a short time will also become overfarmed.

Areas that are "Overfarmed" will recover and return to normal once farming behavior in the affected area stops for a long enough time.

Overfarmed Area Limitations

  • Mobs will no longer drop experience orbs
  • Sculk will no longer spread
  • Valuable mob loot will no longer drop. Here's a current list as of July 2nd, 2025

    • Gold Nugget
    • Iron Ingot
    • Carrot
    • Potato
    • Redstone
    • Glowstone Dust
    • Sugar
    • Slime Balls
    • Gunpower
    • Ender Pearl
    • Emerald
    • Wither Skeleton Skull

Notable Other Changes

  • Cactus and Kelp do not yield any experience when smelting
  • Baked Potatoes yield significantly reduced experience (around 1% of the normal XP rate)
